Women prisoners in Campbell County Prison
A district prison in a remote corner of Appalachia gives an idea of how a wave of opioids and methamphetamines destroys American families. Here, and in many other places, drug addiction leads to a rapid increase in the number of female prisoners. More than ten years ago, in Campbell County Prison in northeastern Tennessee, there were rarely more than 10 women. Now the number of prisoners is about 60 people.
