Specialists of the Institute of Electronic Control Machines (INEUM) named after I.S. Brooke, a member of the United Instrument-Making Corporation (UIC), began developing computer technology on the domestic eight-microprocessor Elbrus-8C. According to the developers, the systems they create will replace foreign products, the weak point of which is the lack of guarantees for the absence of “spyware bookmarks” and protection against information leaks.

OPK already supplies products on the Elbrus microprocessors of previous generations. In particular, in 2015, the first batch of servers was transferred to the federal executive bodies. Besides,Elbrus processors are used in the complex of technical tools developed for the Federal Security Service of Russia, the purpose of which is to combine encrypted document communication channels of Russia and the CIS countries into a single secure network.

Allegedly, the use of a new processor will lead to an increase in peak performance of systems by 3-5 times, throughput of input-output channels - by 8 times. The microprocessor, manufactured on 28-nanometer technology, will find application in servers, workstations and laptops. Moreover, in the near future, high-performance servers based on the Elbrus-8C can serve as the basis for a supercomputer.
