How to take a snake

The Caspian snake is a large snake from the family of the agitated. Known not only for its impressive size, but also an unusually aggressive disposition, is able to attack a person and bite.
In this article, my experience shooting a yellow-bellied snake and a little backstage.
It is worth a snake to lie in the grass, and it becomes almost imperceptible. This is the first reaction of the snake to the approach of man. If the snake realizes that it has been noticed, it with a loud hissing arrow takes off and rushes away. However, some large specimens prefer to lie to the last, then to make an unexpected throw in the direction of a person, but after most often they also try to escape.
The snake took refuge in the bush of mordovnik:
There is only one way out - to catch the snake. Here I have about one and a half meter yellow bilge. Caught yellow-belly will squirm, trying to bite. The snake is not poisonous, but it has small teeth, so it can bite through human skin. It is safe for yourself and for the snake to hold its base of the tail.
And this snake is the largest one I have met, its length is more than 1.8 meters:
It now remains to release the snake in a convenient place for shooting ... But the snake will not wait for it to be photographed. Most likely he will try to crawl away. If you stand on the path of the snake, she will attack:
Before throwing the snake is grouped:
Then rushes straight into the camera lens:
Many times I tried to catch the moment of the throw, but the snake very quickly flies through the zone of sharply depicted space:
And once, with my friend Vladimir Gorbachev, we caught a very aggressive runner:
Vladimir distracted the snake, and I shot her attacks:
It looked like this:
The yellow-bellied snake is a very temperamental snake, there is no need to make an effort for the reptile to show emotions. But to calm the snake - more difficult task.
I do the following with snakes up to a meter: I gently fold it in my palm in a spiral, then I put it in the right place and cover it with my palms. The snake feels like in a shelter. Then I slowly raise my hands, there is from a few seconds to a few minutes to shoot.
And when I deal with large copies, in order to cover which my four palms are not enough, I use a backpack. The snake crawls voluntarily under a backpack lying on the ground in search of shelter, then, after waiting a few minutes, we raise the backpack and remove it.
It is important to remember - it is not worth tormenting animals during a long time. And then you need to carry the snake to a safe place: a bush, a ravine with cracks in the ground, a colony of gophers or other rodents, so that the reptile can recover from the stress experienced.
